The Rich Jerk. You can’t seem to do a search for home business, online marketing or get rich quick schemes these days without hearing something about the Rich Jerk. There are articles ranging the spectrum from ranting about his “bad attitude” used to market his product, right up to glowing testimonies about how much money people are making in a day thanks to his advice. Some people certainly may find his blunt, arrogant way of bringing his point across to be somewhat offensive and unnecessary. For those of us who have practically fallen asleep reading some of the other boring, uninformative e-books about making money online; or the over-hyped sales letters for get rich quick schemes, the Rich Jerk is a welcome alternative.
I came across his e-book about a month ago while looking into possible home business ideas, like so many of us these days that are hoping to start making money online, I had spent countless hours searching for something real. I was impressed to find that the information he gave actually made sense, with little to none of the html confusion of other e-books I’d struggled through. He also didn’t waste time like some e-book authors by going through the most basic details of how to build a website, or explaining in great detail how adsense works. With all of the different site-building programs and D.I.Y web-hosting companies these days, truly anyone can build a good looking website, and Google has plenty of help when it comes to adsense. (There are also some really great e-books on the net if you are looking for something specifically about adsense.) I’ve read e-books that were supposed to be about online marketing, but consisted of nothing more than a few pages telling you to; a) build a website, b) join an affiliate program, c) join adsense. There wasn’t even any real info on how to go about doing those these things, and yet the comment was made in the script that “I know you paid a lot of money for this”. No wonder people are skeptical of get rich quick schemes.
What information does the Rich Jerk give you for your purchase price?
• How to choose which affiliate programs to promote, and a listing of the best affiliate networks to join.
• Pay-Per-Click and SEO (search engine optimization) strategies, useful for any type of website.
• Advice on creating and selling your own e-book/product, and selling other companies products on e-Bay.
• A full chapter for “beginners” to expand on all the topics, and make further suggestions for success.
• A list of affiliate products and programs he personally recommends to aid you in your venture, and some alternative online business opportunities for the more adventurous.
This may not sound like a lot of information, and while the Rich Jerk is only 47 pages, there is more useable info included than in some books twice the size. There’s a very good reason as to why so many articles and reviews have been written about this product, if you’re looking to start an online business, it is worth your time and money to read this e-book.
As for the issue of the Rich Jerk’s “attitude”, it’s called anti-marketing. While people like to complain about it, it does get results. It grabs your attention when you’re looking at a bunch of run-of-the-mill ads. After all, you’re taking the time to read about him right now, just as I’m taking the time to write about him, so he’s achieved his goal. It’s also a matter of doing what works for you; celebrities have been doing this sort of thing for decades. (We can all easily come up with a half dozen or more names that are remembered for exactly this tactic.) I personally felt that it was refreshing to have someone be blunt and honest about what is deemed by some to be a get rich quick program. Make no mistake. What the Rich Jerk talks about is a legitimate online business, which will require you to spend some money before you can start making money.
Please understand that any online business or home business is going to take some work, regardless of what you’re promoting; and it will take some time to actually start making money. The Rich Jerk does have some great ideas for how to make it all a lot easier though, and a lot more affordable too.

Are Moneymaking Ebooks Useful, or Just a Scam? by Essmeier
Anyone who has spent any amount of time surfing the Web has probably come across Websites that offer to show you how to earn money at home. The headlines, in large fonts, usually tout some seemingly outrageous claim, such as "High school dropout discovers secret of earning $9547 a day online." These headlines are usually followed by a long sales pitch designed to get you to buy an electronic book, or ebook, about making money.
A tremendous number of people are interested in learning how to make money on the Internet. So many, in fact, that a Google search for the phrase "make money online" yields nearly two million results. Obviously, there's a large market for books about making money. Are these books worthwhile, or are they just a scam designed to take your cash?
If you think that a $47 ebook is really going to teach you how to make thousands of dollars per day with only a few minutes' work, you're probably going to be disappointed. The figure quoted in on the seller's Web page undboubtedly represents an extreme example that probably cannot be duplicated. While many of these ebooks do suggest plans that are capable of making money, the sheer volume of people who buy them may render those methods ineffective. What works when one person does it may not work anymore when five thousand people try it. That doesn't mean that the information in any given ebook is entirely worthless; it just means that you may have to go through some trial and error in order to make it work.
Although the promises of earning a lot of money quickly are generally overstated, most of these ebooks do offer some useful information. A book that touts "five plans for success" might have one thing that works and four things that don't. Another book may promote a moneymaking method that won't work for you but might also tell you about a useful piece of software that you otherwise would not have known about. That, in turn, might lead you to something that works.
Most people who earn a living online have multiple sources of income; they don't get all of their money from just one thing. Anyone who is thinking about buying an ebook about making money should keep that in mind and not expect life-changing results from a single 60-page document. On the other hand, exposure to ideas presented in multiple books may give you ideas for something that will work for you, and that, after all, is what you're looking for in an ebook.

Affiliate Marketing Makeover For Success by Don Downes
When you examine what successful affiliate marketers do, have you noticed a consistent pattern? If you're not profiting with your current marketing methods, just take a look at what the successful marketers do:
Study and Research – Find out what a hungry niche market is looking for. When you can pinpoint what the market is looking for, it's easy to deliver the product to them. So explore, brainstorm and research before selecting a product to market to them. Spend some time on Google Trends and research.
Test it out - Before trying to generate huge amounts of traffic, create a small test campaign with a few ultra targeted keywords to see if it converts. Highly targeted traffic that converts to sales is the sign of a successful affiliate marketer. Testing it out first makes it easy to track because the campaign is small.
Doing your job – Affiliate marketing is all about PRE-selling. Let the merchant do the selling. Your role should be to provide value. Help your audience find what they are looking. Find a solution to their problem. Avoid the concept of sell/sell and embrace the concept of PRE-sell/sell. If you can put yourself in front of your customers pc and visualize yourself as them, you can certainly PRE-sell.
Capture Page – A well thought out landing page that is of high quality, relevant and full of keywords accomplishes two things perfectly. It creates your brand of high value and allows big daddy (aka Google) to see the keywords you advertise under as relevant. So learn to build it, and they will come.
Seduce Google – Make yourself attractive to Google and all of the other major PPC services out there. Pay less than all of your competitors when Google thinks your style of advertising is attractive. Pay TONS when you use PPC's the wrong way. An understanding of how these services work will help conversions.
Be Specific – Lots of traffic, no conversions and no money in your bank account is the result of bidding on keywords that are to general. Bidding on a term like "fishing gear" is not productive. How about "deep sea fishing gear albacore tuna" or even more specific than that. Make a customer say, "Awesome! Exactly what I was searching for."."
Build the list – If you don't capture your customer's email address you're leaving the money on table. It's going to take around 6 or more contacts from you before the purchase so follow-up. Even better, is the option to market to them in the future for free.
I've never underestimated the importance of learning what the successful affiliate marketers are doing. Do it and be much better off.
